A CLEAR PATH FORWARD

Four steps.
A stronger foundation.

A defined scope, then structured onboarding over a typical 30–45 days. Onboarding is billed once, at one month of your monthly fee.

  1. 01

    Discovery call

One conversation to understand your business, current systems, and financial priorities.

  2. 02

    NDA & financial review

We sign an NDA, then collect and review your financials to shape a draft proposal.

  3. 03

    Proposal & agreement

A follow-up call to discuss the proposal and refine the scope and fees. Then we sign the engagement letter.

  4. 04

    Onboarding

We learn your business and processes, agree on finance priorities, and establish your reporting rhythm—typically over 30–45 days.

Explore the five onboarding phases

We start by understanding how your business works, how work gets done, and the decisions ahead. That understanding shapes your finance priorities and our approach.

  1. 01

    Understand your business and priorities

Learn how you generate revenue, what drives costs and margins, your funding position, and your growth plans. Understand the decisions ahead and what founders, investors, and the board need from finance.

  2. 02

    Map your processes and responsibilities

Walk through how sales become invoices and cash, how purchases become payments, and how payroll runs. Identify who owns each step, how approvals work, and where information gets delayed or lost.

  3. 03

    Assess the financial foundation

Review the books, supporting schedules, expense categorization, revenue recognition, and cash visibility. Identify gaps and prioritize them by their impact on decisions, reporting, and risk.

  4. 04

    Agree on the finance roadmap

Establish priorities, responsibilities, controls, the close calendar, and reporting appropriate to your scope. Agree on what needs attention first and what can improve over time.

  5. 05

    Deliver, review, and refine

Complete the first agreed reporting cycle and discuss what the numbers mean for the business. Establish the ongoing rhythm for reviewing performance, cash, and upcoming decisions.

Along the way, we arrange secure system access, gather records and workpapers, coordinate the handover, and confirm opening balances as appropriate to your scope.

Onboarding typically takes 30–45 days, depending on access, record quality, and scope. The one-time onboarding fee equals one month of your agreed monthly fee. Significant historical cleanup is scoped and quoted separately.

Net burn is recurring cash outflows less recurring inflows. Leave out the one-time events below. Negative growth models declining spend; 0% holds burn flat.

Turn this scenario into a plan. We build 13-week cash forecasts around your actual operations.

Talk about your cash flow
How the estimate works
  • Burn changes after each month and is spread evenly within the month.
  • Events happen at the start of their month. A later receipt cannot bridge an earlier cash gap.
  • Expected receipts are assumptions. Compare the result without them before relying on them.
  • The projection is capped at 60 months. This simplified estimate is not a full forecast; receivables, payables, and payroll timing need a 13-week cash flow model.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Before we talk.

Straight answers to common
first-call questions.

Who do you work with?

Founder-led startups and growing businesses. Our industry experience includes B2B SaaS, biotech and life sciences, professional services, and others.

Do you prepare tax returns or perform audits?

Your tax CPA prepares income tax returns. We provide closed books and supporting schedules. We can manage audit preparation and act as the auditor’s point of contact; the independent auditor performs the audit and issues the opinion.

Can you work with our existing team?

Yes. We tailor the scope around the work you already handle in-house and coordinate with your team and outside advisors.

Can you work with our existing tools?

We’re system-agnostic, with most of our accounting work in QuickBooks. We also work with Rillet and tailor our approach to your business and existing systems.

Beyond accounting, we work with tools such as Gusto, Justworks, Rippling, and TriNet for payroll and HR; Ramp and Brex for spend management; Stripe for payments and billing; Carta for equity management; and Anrok for sales tax.

These are examples, not a required stack. We work with these systems and others, based on your business and scope, and recommend improvements where they would strengthen accuracy, reporting, or efficiency.

How do you support a capital raise or the next stage after funding?

Before a raise, we help prepare reliable financials, forecasts, and supporting schedules, and coordinate responses to investor diligence requests. After funding, we help upgrade your monthly close, board reporting, cash planning, controls, and accounting systems to support a larger business.

Start with a focused project or ongoing finance support, depending on your stage and what your team already handles.

Can we start with a specific project?

Yes. Clean-ups, system conversions, ERP implementation support, consolidation, and audit readiness can be scoped as projects with their own deliverables, timelines, and fees.

What should we bring to a first conversation?

A sense of your goals, your current accounting and operations tools, and the reporting you need. You do not need to send financials before the discovery call. We sign an NDA before collecting financials to prepare your proposal.

Who approves payments and payroll?

We can prepare payments and payroll when included in the scope. Approval and release remain with you.
